O.J. GUILTY! Faces Life in Prison

O.J. Simpson was found guilty on Thursday, exactly 13 years to the day of his acquittal The Las Vegas jury reached its verdict after about 13 hours of deliberations Friday.

Simpson and Stewart were charged with 12 counts, including conspiracy to commit a crime, robbery, assault and kidnapping with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors charged that, in September 2007, Simpson led a group of men who used threats, guns and force to take photographs, footballs and other items from two memorabilia dealers. Simpson has continually claimed the items had been stolen from him.

Simpson sat quietly and showed little emotion at the defense table as he listened to the verdicts being read. Simpson could get life in prison for these convictions. Sentencing is set for December 5, 2008.

In California, conspiracy to commit a crime (California Penal Code 182) is officially a criminal act when two or more persons conspire to commit a crime, as well as when two actors conspire to cheat and defraud any person of any property, by any means which are in themselves criminal. The punishment for conspiracy is the same as if the two actors actually committed the underlying felony conspired to.

In California, robbery (PC 211) is officially defined as: Robbery is the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear.

In California, kidnapping (PC 207) is defined as any person who forcibly, or by any other means of instilling fear, steals or takes, or holds, detains, or arrests any person in this state, and carries the person into another country, state, or county, or into another part of the same county. Kidnapping is punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for three, five, or eight years.

In California, assault (PC 240) is defined as an unlawful attempt, coupled with a present ability, to commit a violent injury on the person of another.
