Celebrity Heather Locklear Arrested in California for Suspicion of DUI for Driving While Under the Influence of Controlled Substances

Heather Locklear was arrested on Saturday afternoon for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance while in Montecito, a small community just outside the city of Santa Barbara.
The celebrity actress was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer after a witness reported seeing the actress driving recklessly while leaving a parking lot. The witness called 911 after spotting Locklear stopping and getting out her car several times within a few minutes.
Note: The police officer NEVER saw her driving recklessly! In most instances of alleged DUI cases, the police officer initially suspects alcohol intoxication when they stop a motorist who they personally observed driving erratically. The officer then requests the driver to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests (FST’s). Often, the individual performs poorly on the FST’s and then submits to a chemical test, which inadvertently reveals alcohol in the blood at levels beyond the statutory legal limit. However, in cases of alleged DUI when a substance other than alcohol is involved, the chemical test will reveal little, if any alcohol. Under these circumstances the officer is led to conclude the individual is under the influence of drugs or any unspecific illegal substance.
Driving Under the Influence can occur as a result of being under the influence of many different chemicals. An experienced DUI defense attorney at Houston & Blanco can effectively protect your rights and ensure your due process.
